What you will be doing
As a support worker, you will be helping people live a more rewarding life by assisting them achieve their personal goals and milestones. Your responsibilities will include personal care, emotional support and physical assistance and supervision. You may be required to assist with domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning and menu planning as well as community engagement and outings such as going to the movies or shopping.
The specifics of the role will depend on each participant's needs, abilities and goals however in all cases you will be contributing to participant's social connectedness, independence, emotional wellbeing and general health.
What you will need
To become a support worker, no prior experience or qualifications are needed to apply. You will however need to have a current open driver's licence, a reliable vehicle, a smart phone and some level of computer skills. You will also require a current first aid and CPR certificate, or be willing to obtain one within the first four weeks of your employment.
You may need to be flexible with your time, as most roles in our organisation involve shift work including evenings, weekends and some of our sites require sleeping over.
